Winter Break Information

The last meal served in the dining commons (DC) will be dinner on December 14 until 8 p.m. Meals will resume on January 4 for dinner at the Segundo DC at 5- 8 p.m. Tercero and Cuarto DCs will resume operation with brunch at 9:30 a.m. on January 6.

All residence halls will close at noon on December 15. Residents may not stay in the halls over Winter Break. Access to all buildings will be denied, so please remind your students to grab their essentials before they leave!

A few things to do prior to leaving:

  • Refrigerator: Remove food items, clean, unplug and leave door open with bowl or towel underneath to defrost
  • Remove all trash from room and suite
  • Unplug ALL electrical appliances
  • Turn off lights and turn down thermostats to the lowest setting
  • Close and lock windows, close drapes/blinds and lock your room/suite door

Applications for the Resident Advisor and Community Assistant positions are now open. To submit an application and read the full information packet, please visit our page.  

The Resident Advisor (RA) is a part-time staff member appointment within Student Housing and Dining Services. The responsibilities of the RA are centered in a student community in which the staff member assists with the growth of residents and the creation of a positive community environment. Under the supervision of the Resident Director (RD) and Assistant Resident Director (ARD), the RA serves as a resource person to both residents and staff so as to meet the goals of residential education and development.

  1. Priority Deadline to Apply: Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 12 noon
  2. Final Deadline to Apply: Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 12 noon

The Community Assistant (CA) is also a part-time staff member appointment within Student Housing and Dining Services. The responsibilities of the CA are centered around a student community in which the staff member focuses on the growth and development of the residents. Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Apartment Living, the CA serves as a resource person to residents of the Student Housing Apartments (SHA) to help build community, plan regular programs, mediate roommate issues, and connect and educate residents about the resources available to them on campus. Applications due Thursday, January 10, 2019 by noon.


Off Campus Living Programs

ASUCD hosts “Housing Day,” an informational presentation that informs students about housing options and how to obtain housing in Davis. Over 50 apartment complexes will be in attendance. Come for prizes, giveaways and free food!

To help your first-year student transition into their second year housing, the Student Housing and Dining Services will be hosting several Off-Campus Living Programs. Here are the dates for the next information sessions.

January 14: Segundo, Regan Main at 7 p.m.

January 15: Tercero, Scrub Oak Auditorium at 7 p.m.

January 17: Cuarto, Fish Bowl (DC 2nd Floor ) at 6 p.m.
