Supporting the Parents Fund on Give Day Enriches the Student Experience

At UC Davis student success starts in the classroom where they’re surrounded by like-minded peers and led by world-class faculty researchers like our Chancellor’s Fellows. These professors get students like yours excited about the cutting-edge research happening on campus and help them develop foundational skills in their chosen fields.

Supported by the Parents Fund, the Chancellor’s Fellows program awards go to early-career faculty who are passionate about teaching and committed to student development. With $25,000 of unrestricted funding, our Fellows can also focus on developing groundbreaking research that they may otherwise not be able to pursue, and drive innovation in curriculum.

“Our undergraduates represent the best and brightest of our future. To be part of shaping how they critically assess and tackle real-world challenges in education is an honor and a privilege,” said Kevin Gee, a professor of education and a Chancellor’s Fellow.

The experience your student has at UC Davis is always forefront in our faculty’s minds. Many Chancellor’s Fellows use their awards to provide students with career-building lab experience, and mentorship opportunities that they wouldn’t otherwise receive. Collaborating with faculty and participating in real-world research enables your student to explore career paths and take their skills to the next level.

Chancellor’s Fellow Michele La Merrill, who teaches pharmacology and environmental toxicology, recognizes the impact that experiential learning had on her own career. “I became a scientist when I started doing my own research as an undergraduate—and it’s important to me to pass that opportunity forward to Aggies too,” she said.

As parents, we want our students to embrace academic opportunities and get involved in exciting discoveries that will prepare them for exceptional careers after graduation. Supporting the Chancellor’s Fellows program by giving to our Parents Fund enriches the student experience and opens new doors to future success.

UC Davis Give Day, which is coming up on April 14-15 is a great time to support the Parents Fund because our challenge gifts make your support go even further. Early gifts made at https://giveday.ucdavis.edu/parentsfund will count on Give Day as well.
