Join our San Diego Active Aggies on this October Lake Calavera Loop hike in Carlsbad. This will be a 2 mile easy hike with a pace set to complete in approximately 1.5-2 hours with stops to rest.
Carlsbad’s Lake Calavera Preserve is the largest of the city’s 13 managed nature preserves, with more than 6 miles of trails, open to hikers, bikers and dogs (on leashes). The trail that we are going to hike is called the Lake Loop. Fun fact: The area’s centerpiece is Mount Calavera which is a ~ 22 million year old, inactive volcano. Calavera translates to skull in Spanish.
This is a family and dog friendly event. There is street parking. Items to bring: Water, sunscreen, hat, and optionally a light snack (nuts, dry fruits, chocolate, etc.).

After the hike, for those who are CAAA members and would like to take advantage of the Columbia benefit, one of our volunteers will be at the Carlsbad store from 11:30 - 1 p.m. to say hi and to share more about the other activities the San Diego Network offers throughout the year.
