Aggie Stories - Oral History Project

About the Project

"Aggie Stories Alumni Oral History Project" logo with teal speech callout shape and intersecting gold rounded rectangle.

Every UC Davis Aggie has a story, and the Cal Aggie Alumni Association wants to hear yours. However, with over 300,000 alumni, it would take many years to meet with each of you individually. That's why we've decided to embark on a new project called Aggie Stories - Oral History Project to collect stories from alumni like you. These stories will be preserved in a book that celebrates the impact UCD has had on your lives and who you are today. Every time we don’t capture or preserve stories, it feels like another opportunity lost. We’re excited to get started!

Have You Moved?

As part of this project, we are also taking this opportunity to help make it easier for you to stay connected to UC Davis. Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI) will help us collect updated contact information from those of you who may have moved and inadvertently lost touch with your alma mater.

Your Story:

So what UC Davis memory will you tell?

  • Is there a faculty or staff member who had a profound impact on your life?
  • Did you meet your Aggie sweetheart at UC Davis?
  • Is there a defining moment at UC Davis that helped shape your future?
  • Have connections you made on campus turned to lifelong friendships?
  • Where you on campus during a historical moment?
  • What was your Picnic Day experience?

What’s Next?

If you haven’t already, you will receive a postcard and email from PCI, on our behalf, with two important invitations:

  • An invitation to update and verify your contact information to strengthen our UCD alumni network and to keep you updated on the latest school developments.
  • An invitation to share your UCD experience. What are your fondest memories from your time at UCD? PCI has a dedicated team ready to record your stories.

The PCI team will collect stories until December 2022. After that, they will enter a post-production phase editing the data. We hope to have the book distributed in June 2023.

We look forward to hearing from each and every one of you regarding the memories of your time on campus!

What to Look For:

Below is an example of a postcard you will receive in the mail. This is an official postcard from CAAA, distributed by our partner PCI. Once you receive the postcard, please follow the instructions to update your information and set up an interview time to share your Aggie Story!

  • PCI Partnership

  • To support our effort to capture as many Aggie stories as possible, Cal Aggie Alumni Association is partnering with PCI, whose trained staff of real, live human beings will work with us to interview you. PCI will also help collect and assemble the stories into the Aggie Stories book that we can share with all Aggies. Please note, we have only shared your contact information with PCI in conjunction with this project. We have NOT sold your contact information, or otherwise used it for outside marketing.
  • Do I have to buy something?

  • No. This project is being done at NO COST to CAAA. The project is completely funded by the alumni who choose to purchase the Aggie Stories book that will be produced at the end of the project. Various book packages will be offered.

PCI will also offer you the option to join the Cal Aggie Alumni Association and purchase exclusive Cal Aggie Alumni Association branded merchandise. You are welcome to purchase these items, but you are not required to do so to participate in the project or order the Aggie Stories book.

We are excited to embark on a project like this with the support of PCI and our extraordinary alumni. We sincerely thank every person that participates and chooses to purchase the book.
