Many families and students take out loans to pay for college but how do you choose among federal loans (loans funded by the federal government), private loans (loans taken out from a financial institution), or a combination of both? Federal student loans offer a variety of benefits over private loans, including fewer restrictions on eligibility, more options for repayments, and lower interest rates. Private loans are offered by many different institutions, including banks, credit unions, and sometimes your school.
UC Davis also awards over 5 million dollars in scholarships. Although it may seem too early to think about funding for the next academic year, continuing students apply for scholarships in the fall of the academic year prior to awarding.
