Taty graduated from UC Davis with a degree in psychology in 1973 and became a CAAA life member in 1993. As a student, he was involved in a wide range of organizations, including ASUCD, MECHA and the Third World Coalition. Taty retired after 41 years working for the State of California; current statewide Co-Chair, UC Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association (CLAA); UC Davis HSI Task Force; Co-Chair, UC Davis Cesar Chavez Youth Leadership Conference (20th anniversary); Board of Directors, UC Davis Health, Community Advisory Board (CAB); Board of Regents, Samuel Merritt University (SMU); former state president of CAFE de California, the Chicano Latino State Employees Association, the largest Latino organization in State government; and serves on the Executive Board of the Coalition of State Civil Rights organizations.
