Outstanding Alumnus(a) Award

This award honors a UC Davis graduate who is in the mid-point of his or her career, who does not specifically qualify for the Distinguished or Young Alumnus(a) of the Year Awards and who has displayed outstanding achievement, promoted innovative change and made outstanding contributions professionally, to the community and to UC Davis. Specific criteria used during the selection process include 1) career achievement, 2) leading innovative change in their fields, 3) service to the university and 4) community and public service.

The 2013 Outstanding Alumnus Award recipient is Janice Eberly '86

Janice Eberly is the 2013 Outstanding Alumna Award winner. This award honors a UC Davis graduate who is in the mid-point of his or her career, and who has displayed outstanding achievement, promoted innovative change and made outstanding contributions professionally, to the community and to campus.

Eberly, on leave as the John L. and Helen Kellogg Distinguished Professor of Finance at Northwestern University, advises Secretary Timothy Geithner on economic issues and leads the analyses of U.S. and global economies and financial markets. Eberly grew up in Fallbrook and now lives in Evansville, Ill., and Bethesda, Md.

She became a national leader as a young UC Davis student, making history as the first female president at the state and national levels of the Future Farmers of America. A UC regent in 1985-86, she graduated with a degree in agricultural economics and was honored as the year's top graduating senior. She earned a doctorate in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology while serving as a junior economist in President George H.W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers. She previously served on the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
