Be a Mentor

Strengthen the CAAA Network by mentoring a current student.

The Cal Aggie Alumni Association is constantly recruiting Alumni volunteer mentors for many of our Student Alumni Association activities.

As a mentor, you’ll be paired with a UC Davis student and invited to events such as:

Aggie Diner
Aggie Diner is an award-winning program that allows students to connect with alumni over a catered dinner in a professional setting. Aggie Diner is a great way for students to speak to professionals from a variety of career fields to ask them about their professional expertise. Alumni come to reconnect and share their college and career experiences with interested students. Click here to register for this event.

Interview with an Aggie
Students are not sure what to say, what to wear or may just be nervous about showing their resume to potential employers. Help them overcome these fears and join us at Interview with an Aggie. Participate in mock interviews with students who may share similar career interests and provide students with feedback on their résumés, attire and interview skills. Mingle with students afterward and assist them with networking skills over refreshments. Click here for more information.

Take an Aggie to Work
Did you ever wish you could test out your current career before you actually started doing it? Maybe dabble in a different career field just to see if it fits? Take an Aggie to Work is an incredible networking opportunity that gives students the chance to job shadow a UC Davis alum for the day. The goal of this program is to connect SAA members with alumni who work in a variety of career fields, enabling students to get a feel for real world work environments. Participants will pair with an alum in their field of interest and allowed to make arrangements that fit into their own schedule. We do understand that this may be hard to coordinate with busy professional schedules. If you have any interest in simply meeting a student over coffee or participating in a conference call to answer student questions about your profession, we could still certainly appreciate your participation. Click here to register for this event.

We will also provide guidelines and tips on mentoring your student in the following areas:

  • Academic guidance (course selection, study skills, graduate school planning)
  • Career advice (job shadowing, résumé critique, interviewing tips, general career guidance)
  • Personal development (networking, hobbies, recreation)
To sign up as a mentor, please update your profile and select the "mentor" category or click here to sign up and a student representative will contact you shortly. For further questions or information please contact us at alumni@ucdavis.edu or (530)752-0286.
