Cal Aggie Alumni Association

San Lee

By Leslie Cory ’13

San Lee ’09 understood the importance of making connections with alumni when she was an undergraduate at UC Davis. As a board member of the Cal Aggie Student Alumni Association, she was able to network with alumni, a few of whom became her mentors and offered advice when needed. Now, as an international recruiter and admissions adviser for UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions, San has the opportunity to offer advice and address any questions and concerns that prospective students from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan may have.

During her time at UC Davis, Lee stayed busy with her involvement in SAA and with her on-campus job in membership fulfillment with the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.

“I particularly enjoyed tabling for SAA recruitment events such as Decision Day and summer orientation,” she said.

She also found her job enjoyable and informative. “Working for the alumni association gave me the opportunity to adapt to the environment quickly and learn more about Davis.”

Shortly after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communication and minor in contemporary leadership, Lee moved back to Hong Kong. Since then, she has met with Chancellor Linda Katehi and listened to Katehi's vision of expanding recruitment in Asia.

“I hope to reach out to as many students as I can in hopes that they will consider UC Davis as their choice of college,” she explains. “Staying involved with UC Davis empowers me to keep learning, and helps me remember why I attended UC Davis in the first place.”

San is looking into MBA programs around the world that fit her interests. While still living in Hong Kong, she enjoys being able to spend time with her family, but says, “Davis will always be my home away from home and CAAA is a huge part of that.”
